“Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.
-Habakkuk 2:2
Write the vision down, make it plain.
I toiled on whether to bring this word earlier or later in this week of faith and the future and was brought to it today for this cause; capturing the words God has spoken to you, the specific promises made, the holy challenges laid bare should not be a footnote. It should be a primary concern.
Every minute that passes between when the Father of all creation brings forth that revelation, and you incline your heart and and perceive it (however imperfectly our humanity allows for) is a minute that the devil will use to distort and distance you from that holy truth. The accuser is constantly challenging with “Did God say?”
How then can we make the most precious word of God plain when it is anything but? We render it plain when we choose not to adorn it. It is not our work in this moment to add to what God has spoken or to attempt to render it’s meaning. If God has spoken only three words then those three words are sufficient. Can we pray and write on our understanding of its meaning and implication? Of course! And we should. But we should be clear with ourselves who said what and so not attempt to hold God accountable later for words He did not speak.
In the Old Testament these moments were rendered in stone. Today, paper or iPad do just as well. But keep it safe and close. We cannot run with it, nor can anyone else if they cannot read it.
Today as we pray church let’s dwell on the words God has already spoken to us, give thanks and press in for more. God is revealing himself to us, let’s incline our hearts and prepare our hands to write.
Looking forward to an incredible final week in our 21 days of Prayer!
Love you church
Stephen
